Microdermabrasion devices are special skin care devices designed to treat many skin conditions more effectively and safely than previously possible with other procedures.
What Does Microdermabrasion Do?
Microdermabrasion is also referred to as a “Power Peel” and works by spraying a stream of inert micro-crystals across the skin that creates an abrasive action. These crystals also have disinfecting and drying properties and help to clean the skin of infected lesions such as acne. The dead skin cells are lifted from the surface by this abrasion and are then whisked away by vacuum suction and new skin growth is subsequently stimulated.
How deep are the Peels?
Microdermabrasion can produce a range of peels from light to very deep treatments and allows the esthetician to perform a controlled deeper treatment. Because we can see and control the depth of the peeling, we can assess the depth of the needed treatment and so produce efficient faster and safer results.
How the Microdermabrasion differs from Surgical Dermabrsion?
It is a great alternative to the traditional surgical Dermabrasion, which is more aggressive, painful and requires time off work for healing. In contrast, “power peeling” is relatively painless, requires no time loss for healing (you can go back to work the same day), its action is controlled, rare complications, it is economical and produces exceptional results that are in between chemical peeling and laser surgical procedures.
How soon can I see noticeable results?
Some results are noticeable almost immediately and there is further progressive improvement over the 2 to 3 weeks following each additional treatment.
What are the main benefits of Microdermabrasion?
Separate from the surface abrasive action the microdermabrasion also causes intense stimulation of the full depth of the skin layers, bringing about substantial responses in the Dermis. Results include: improved blood supply and lymph drainage to improve the health and vitality of the skin, as well as substantially increased Collagen and Elastin formation to firm and plump the skin. In the Epidermis, an increased rate of new cell reproduction eliminates the older damaged skin cells from the surface. This results in healthier, glowing skin with better tone and support.
Which areas can be effectively ?
How many treatments are necessary?
In most instances a range of multiple treatments are necessary to achieve the best results. The number required is dependent upon the condition of the patient’s skin.
Is it safe?
At our medical spa the microdermabrasion unit we use is a professional medical unit that can give a deeper, safer, and more comprehensive treatment than most salon units available. This unit has been in use in medical spa’s for years, it is fully sterilisable and because of its safety has received clearance by both the FDA in the strict USA market and the TGA here in Australia . It is used by doctors and trained medical personnel and you can be assured of the safety and effectiveness of the treatments offered. Side effects are very rare.
Do I need a consultation prior to treatment?
A consultation is required in order to detect any skin or medical conditions that may influence the safe use of the procedures and to fully assess your skin condition. The esthetician will then decide on the appropriate course of treatment for you to ensure the best possible results.
